Best bulb choice for outdoor lighting

Posted by Mike S on Jan 18th 2020

My first set of bulbs for my outside Pool deck and patio string lights were glass. They lasted about a year. The problem with the glass is that the bond between the metal screw base and the glass bulb is weak and the bulb gets loose overtime. Also the bulb will twist out of the base when trying to remove it (then you have to dig the screw base out of the socket). The LED bulbs with the plastic bulb don't have this problem. The bulb is well bonded to the metal base (the part that screws into the socket). So far these LED bulbs have lasted twice as long as the glass ones - and they are still going strong. I will only buy these LED (G40) bulbs now.
